The Giving Cabinet
What does it mean to be a Toyota dealership? With a long history of community partnerships that help our neighbors in the Idaho Falls area, Teton Toyota answers that question a bit differently than most. Rather than simply selling and servicing cars, we believe that what we give back is our highest calling.
How the Giving Cabinet Started
Food security means having access to healthy foods, and the ability to pay for them. One in nine Idahoans — including one in eight children — experience food insecurity. That problem has only compounded with the economic turmoil of the COVID pandemic, as well as rising inflation, and higher costs of everyday living.
When your community is in trouble, inaction is not an option. We decided to establish a small 24/7 food pantry, named the Giving Cabinet, that sits right here at Teton Toyota. It’s kept full of donations from people like you.
How You Can Help Your Neighbors
We keep helping your neighbors just as easy as buying a new Toyota car.
How to Donate
We accept donations at our front desk during regular business hours. We ask that you drop off there, rather than leaving items in the Giving Cabinet yourself. We’ll keep the cabinet stocked and organized.
Donations We Accept
Because we’re a Toyota dealership and not a full-fledged food pantry, there are some limits on what we can take. We aren’t equipped to handle refrigerated items, and we do not take clothing. However, that still leaves you with several donation options:
- Nonperishable food items, including pasta, rice, peanut butter, jelly, canned soups and veggies, and more, as long as they are not expired
- Personal care products, including feminine hygiene products, toothbrushes, toothpaste, soap, and shampoo
- Household items like paper towels, toilet paper, and other essentials
Remember, if you’d like to donate but you’re not sure what’s accepted, you can always call ahead to ask.
A Resource for Our Community
Nobody should ever go hungry. If you need food, or any of the other items we have on hand, please stop by at any time of the day or night. The Giving Cabinet is open even when Teton Toyota is not.
Community Service Is Better Toyota Service
We return to the question that we asked in the beginning. For all of us at Teton Toyota, being a good Toyota dealer and being a good neighbor are one and the same. We thank you for the trust you’ve placed in us over the years, and the many opportunities you’ve given us to give back to you!
